In a significant step to bring smiles and make the future brighter for many Nortehanons, the Provincial Government, in partnership with Belo Medical Group, reached out to cleft lip and cleft palate patients from different municipalities in the province, in a generous Medical-Surgical Mission that made cleft lip and cleft palate surgery accessible, especially for children.

Cleft lip and cleft palate are in-born defects which may be corrected through a series of complex medical procedures. While hernia and benign cysts mostly develop as we age due to a number of factors, these conditions also deserve expert medical care.

With the combined team of renowned medical experts from Belo Medical Group and seasoned general surgeons of the Northern Samar Provincial Hospital (NSPH), the Surgical Mission brought glimmer of light to 30 cleft lip and cleft palate patients in the province. With compassion and dedicated service, 25 other surgical patients with hernia and benign lumps were also served by our own NSPH doctors and medical staff.

Led by renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Lutgardo Capararas Jr. and Cristalle Belo-Pitt, the 9-member Belo Medical Group brought to Northern Samar 3 highly respected surgeons, 2 anesthesiologists, a dentist and 3 other surgical mission support. To recall, the Surgical Mission was held at the NSPH in early September of this year, on the 6th to 9th.

The mission is only one of the many priority healthcare programs of the Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Edwin Ongchuan towards making the Nortehanon community healthy, progressive and happy.
